Instructor Opening
Full Time Seasonal Position Feb 22 – November 15 2018

$75-$80 per day, Room and Board provided (location: Grizzly Creek Ranch, Plumas County, California)

During the fall and spring seasons, instructors’ primary responsibility is delivering outdoor science educational programs primarily serving urban fifth and sixth grades from Sacramento and Reno. All lessons are written according to Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and we train our staff using University of California at Berkeley’s BEETLES (Better Environmental Education, Teaching, Learning & Expertise Sharing) teaching techniques and pedagogy.

During the summer season, we provide both residential summer camp programs and community programs for special needs and leadership development, including The California Endowment’s Sons and Brothers and Sisterhood Rising camps. Sierra Nevada Journeys’ summer camp program is facilitated with an educational and experiential focus for our resident campers. For leadership development programs, instructors use Sierra Nevada Journeys’ challenge course and outdoor learning environment to facilitate leadership experiences and develop collaborative problem solving skills. Instructors also assist our special needs organizations by adapting camp activities to provide an enriching experience for their campers.

Sierra Nevada Journeys is committed to meeting the needs of our partners and participants by hiring a diverse staff and working to foster an organizational culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Join a staff that is committed to constantly improving our outstanding outdoor education programs and creating an excellent experience for kids!
